Reading to My Mother

It is about relationships.

What do you say to someone who does not appear to recognize you? Someone who may not understand anything you say.

How do you spend time with someone who may not know you are there? How do you keep from feeling you are doing nothing?

Soon you may excuse yourself from visiting. "She doesn't know who I am." Or, "He will not remember our visit."

The purpose of this site, ReadingToMyMother.com, is to share what I did. I read stories to my mother.

I read children's books that were favorites. After each one I shared memories related to the story.

The Good Book says that honoring our father and mother is the first Commandment with a promise. The promise is, That it may be well with us and we may live long.

I want to encourage you to read to one you hold dear. One whose last days may not be as either of you imagined. Read to enjoy the relationship you share.
